Fincantieri 2017 contract for three cruise ships, MSC Expands Fleet.

Fincantieri will build and launch on behalf of MSC 3 brand new cruise ships, specifically two plus one option, and the largest ever built by the Group managed by Bono.

For building them ,the Monfalcone shipyard, should be called as being the only one with a basin large enough. An official confirmation is yet expected.

The value of each vessel is 700 million, and then the order will be up to 2.1 billion, a total turnover for the country of 8 billion euro.

The insurance and financial support to the realization of the first two ships will come from Sace.

The prototype of the ship is called "Seaside" and writes the company in a statement, "will present cutting-edge features and unique in the panorama of shipbuilding in the world that will give way to a real generation of cruise ships capable of rewriting the rules of architecture in the industry".

The delivery to ship-owner Gianluigi Aponte will occur in two different periods:

The first will be for delivery for November, 2017, while the second in May of 2018.

The new units, 323 meters long, 41 wide and 70 high, will have a gross tonnage of 154,000 tons, will accommodate nearly 5,200 passengers plus 1,413 crew members and will be equipped with 2,070 cabins for guests, 759 for staff on the board and 43,500 square meters of public areas available.

With this order the MSC group, which already has 10,000 employees Italian, reaffirms the centrality of Italy in its development strategies and continues to invest in our beautiful country by creating wealth and jobs for the whole economic system.

«With the arrival of new ships, we will reach a capacity of 80,000 passengers a day» said Gianni Onorato, Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Company. «Today we are ready with a new schedule of investments exceeding 5 billion euros, including new constructions ordered in Italy and France and conversion of ships already in the fleet».
According to the MSC, finally, «the technological innovations of the new ship model will, among other things, further reducing fuel consumption by 25% and advanced safety systems that go beyond what is required by international regulations».
